Free Trial with ClubandSpa at The Cube

In July, Gas Street Social were lucky enough to get a guided tour of the fabulous ClubandSpa at The Cube, the most exclusive gym and spa in Birmingham, right on our doorstep!

Although we could never be accused of being gym bunnies, even we were impressed by the state of the art equipment and über cool spaces to work out and train. We particularly liked the futuristic Milon room (oooh, bubbles!) and the fact that you can cram an entire work out into 30 minutes… leaving plenty of time to sweat it out in the awesome Kelo sauna afterwards! There’s plenty of scheduled classes too, run by super enthusiastic and well qualified instructors, which include yoga, Zumba and spinning. The added bonus of a class, of course, is that it’s much harder to sneak out half way through your work out…

The ClubandSpa also boasts a gorgeous heated indoor pool with water jets, plus an aroma infused bio sauna, steam room and monsoon showers. For the ultimate indulgence there’s also a luxurious spa offering all manner of beautifying treatments. We loved the hanging cocoons, perfect for a quick nap…

So you lucky people, we’re delighted to announce that our friends at The ClubandSpa are offering all Gas Street Social customers the chance to try out the fantastic gym and pool for yourself! Call them up any time in August 2015 and quote ‘Gas Street Social’ to claim a free weeks trial with access to all of the facilities.

Just give them a call on 0121 643 2200 and ask for Emma or Chris. We’ll see you there!

And if you’re as impressed as we were and decide to sign up for club membership, look out for a little treat from GSS when you join and claim your free drink on us!

Things you didn’t know about The Mailbox..

Ok so maybe you do know them but we love a good fact so thought we would share some about our new home The Mailbox.

The Mailbox is approximately 300 metres from the front to the back (including The Cube) Don’t believe us then get your measuring tape out!

The Mailbox sits alongside the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, leading to our namesake Gas Street Basin

The original site was a railway goods yard supplying the canal

The Mailbox got its name because the site was the location of the Royal Mail’s main sorting office building for Birmingham.   There was a tunnel running between the sorting office and New Street railway station which allowed the mail to be transported directly and securely between the two via electric tractors!

Birmingham Development Company, purchased the building in 1998 for £3 million. Plus further £1 million for the surrounding waterfront buildings

The Mailbox as we know it opened in December 2000 with Harvey Nichols as its anchor store

In 2004, BBC Birmingham  moved into their new studios at the Mailbox replacing the famous Pebble Mill site in Edgbaston

In April 2011 the Mailbox was sold for £127.1 million to a joint venture between Brockton Capital and Milligan

In 2013, Milligan Retail announced that the Mailbox was having a major renovation, designed by Stanton Williams, which would see a roof installed over the shopping area. Harvey Nichols, would also double in size to over 45,000 sq. ft, that’s a lot of good shopping!

In March 2015 The Everyman Cinema opened its doors in The Mailbox, a whole new cinema experience that you just have to try

On the 13th March 2015 Gas Street Social opened its doors for the very first time!
